Cascading Arches is inspired by Giovanni Battista Piranesi's The Lion Bas-Reliefs. Etched in 1761, Piranesi uses multiple scales and compositional devices to enhance the sense of complexity and ambiguity within. Cascading Arches is a Bristol paper model that applies the arch in a series of different scales, patterns, and arrangements to create a variety of spatial rhythms.
